Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris sparked a wave of interaction on the “X” platform after he criticized driving conditions and traffic safety in Egyptian streets, considering that driving in light of the current chaos and abuses “requires a magician, not a driver.”

Sawiris wrote through his official account, explaining the nature of the crisis: Driving in Egypt is between pedestrians, tuk-tuks, and motorcycles, and not respecting the laws by violating the directions. I want a driver, not a driver, in reference to the intersection of pedestrian traffic with vehicles and the lack of adherence to traffic rules, especially the phenomenon of driving in the opposite direction.

Driving in Egypt is between pedestrians, tuk-tuks, and motorcycles, and disrespecting the laws by violating the directions. I want a driver, not a driver...

In response to a question from one of his followers about possible solutions to address this phenomenon, Sawiris presented an integrated vision to reduce violations and improve the flow of the street, which was based on several main axes, foremost of which is the decisive application of the law, increasing penalties, and implementing judgments without exception.

The Egyptian businessman called for tightening the procedures for granting driving licenses and eliminating any form of favoritism, while demanding the immediate withdrawal of the licenses of violators, especially those who commit reversing traffic violations, as they pose an imminent danger to lives.

Implementing the laws decisively and implementing the rulings. Tightening the procedures for granting driver’s licenses, preventing nepotism, and withdrawing the licenses of violators, especially driving in the opposite direction. Licensing rickshaws or banning them completely, except in the countryside and popular neighborhoods. Converting them to electricity to prevent pollution and noise. Tightening the blood analysis of transport drivers and public transport buses.

Regarding the regulation of tuk-tuk vehicles, Sawiris proposed limiting their use or subjecting them to strict licensing and regulation, banning them in cities and permitting them only in rural areas and popular neighborhoods with narrow streets, with the importance of converting them to run on electric power to reduce environmental pollution and noise.

Sawiris stressed the need to activate strict control over drivers of heavy transport and public transport buses, by conducting periodic and sudden drug and blood tests and tests, to ensure the highest standards of safety and security on highways and internal roads.
