Captain Smit Machar, the Indian pilot who was injured in the Flydubai plane accident that occurred in the air on Wednesday, was transferred to the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, to receive treatment, according to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday: “Our ambassador to the UAE met Captain Machar in the hospital and checked on his health condition.
The ambassador also met earlier with his family and assured them of all possible support to ensure the captain's health and safety.” Machar had received initial treatment for his injuries in Saudi Arabia, where the plane - which was bound for Israel - had to make an emergency landing after the co-pilot attacked the Indian captain inside the cockpit, according to reports.
The Indian Embassy in the UAE had stated earlier, Thursday, that Machar was in “good health and recovering well.” The embassy stated in a post on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, that it “continues close coordination with local authorities to ensure the continuation of medical care and the safety of the captain.”
Ofoq News Network has contacted the UAE authorities to obtain a comment.
