On Sunday, the Egyptian authorities closed a famous restaurant in Alexandria Governorate after about 19 people suffered from food poisoning after eating meals from the restaurant located in the Sidi Bishr area.

This came after the Alexandria Police Rescue Operations Room received a report stating that a number of citizens had arrived at several hospitals suffering from severe intestinal symptoms and severe gastrointestinal infections, after eating food from the restaurant.

Following the report, the competent authorities launched a security and enforcement campaign to inspect the health requirements, food, and supplies inside the restaurant.

While the inspection and inspection work resulted in monitoring serious violations, represented by the spread of insects and reptiles inside the food processing warehouse, in addition to a clear decline in the level of general hygiene and poor food storage.

As a result of these violations, the authorities issued an immediate decision to close the restaurant and its warehouse with red wax. Samples of food were also seized and sent to the central laboratories of the Ministry of Health, for examination and to determine the exact causes behind the poisoning cases.

In the same context, a report was drawn up regarding the incident, while the Public Prosecution was notified to begin investigations and take the necessary legal measures against the restaurant owner.
