On Sunday morning, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has classified British intelligence and military institutions as hostile entities and on its list of terrorist organizations. This came in a statement carried by the official Iranian News Agency, which stated: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that it had taken countermeasures against British intelligence and military institutions, in response to the hostile policies of the British government and its involvement in supporting the American-Zionist aggression against Iran, as well as its decision to subject the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to the Government Threats Act.”
She continued: "Under these measures, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs classified the British Foreign Intelligence Service (MI6) as a hostile group, and also decided to include the British Navy and the Royal Air Force on the lists of terrorist organizations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condemnation of the hostile British practices, stressing that these practices violate the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, especially with regard to the sovereignty of states and the prohibition of unlawful interference. It also stressed the Iranian government’s determination to take all necessary measures to protect national security and the supreme interests of the country."
She added: “Based on the decision of the Supreme National Security Council, and in response to the British actions during the past year, which included providing military and logistical support within the framework of the war imposed on Iran through British facilities and bases, in addition to London’s decision to include the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps within the government’s Threats Law, the following was decided.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement, according to what the agency reported: “These measures come in compliance with the standards of international law and in application of the principle of reciprocity, and therefore the British government bears full responsibility for the consequences resulting from these decisions.”
