Iran is fortifying its defenses...and threatening a more violent response to any American attack

Amid continuing tensions and mutual threats between Tehran and Washington, the Iranian authorities have begun working to fortify their defenses, mobilize their supporters, and threaten a broader and harsher response against the United States, at a time when they are preparing for the possibility of being exposed to American attacks after the midterm elections.

Iranian officials have warned, publicly and in private conversations with regional officials, that their country will respond with further escalation across the Middle East if America launches new strikes, according to what the Wall Street Journal reported.

Informed sources said that the Iranian government informed the mediators that it would target American military personnel more ferociously, including attempting to sink American warships in the Middle East and kill their crews, if they were subjected to new attacks.

The government is also working to prepare Iranians for the possibility of renewed war, by sending paramilitary forces to read war stories to children in kindergartens, announcing training courses on the use of shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles, and organizing rallies and marches.

Satellite images showed that Iran has strengthened the protection of sensitive sites, including nuclear facilities and border areas, to make them more resilient to attacks.

In addition, it was reported that Tehran deployed combat units and support units along the country's borders to ensure its security.

Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi, Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces, announced the deployment of these units during an interview with the semi-official Mehr News Agency on October 10. Jahanshahi said: “Most ground force units are stationed on the northwestern, western, southwestern, eastern, northeastern and southeastern borders of the country, especially on the Makran coast, and they enjoy a very high level of readiness.”

He also added that Tehran had taken "important measures" to restructure its defense capabilities, following the joint strikes launched by Israel and the United States in 2025. He added, "We reviewed our operational plans, made adjustments to our combat structure and organization of our forces, and gave priority to equipping units with new weapons characterized by precision strike capabilities, smart systems, and the ability to operate within interconnected networks."

These data came as US President Donald Trump reiterated that the conflict will end soon and oil prices will fall. Trump said during an election rally in Ohio on Monday evening: Iran wants to reach an agreement, but it does not know how to do it.

He also reiterated that Tehran will never possess a nuclear weapon. He pointed out earlier that Iran suffered great losses, as its naval fleet and missile platforms were destroyed, and its economy suffered great losses as a result of sanctions and the naval blockade.

The United States has been at war with Iran since last February 28, when Washington and Israel launched attacks on Tehran and various military sites, while Iranian forces responded by launching strikes on Israel and Gulf countries.

While the mediator movement has not yet succeeded in reaching a final agreement that puts an end to the conflict that led to a decline in navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and a rise in global oil prices.
