Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ismail Baghaei, said that the United States of America has a long record of what he described as “shirking” its obligations, pointing out that this is not something new for Iran. This came in a post by Baqai on his page on the X platform (formerly Twitter), in which he said: “Washington’s disdain for diplomacy is once again revealed.
President Trump’s admission that he never believed in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, and that he considered it a waste of time, reveals the falsity of Washington’s diplomatic commitments. He continued: “For Iran, this is nothing new; Washington has a long record of shirking its obligations and treating international commitments as matters that can be abandoned whenever they become a burden on it.”
He added: "There is no justification for European countries and others who defend Washington to continue to beautify its shameful behavior and protect it from accountability." The Iranian spokesman concluded his post by saying: “Breach of commitments cannot be justified, international law cannot be applied selectively, and any amount of political manipulation will not absolve Washington of responsibility and accountability.”
