Tel Aviv - Afaq News - Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, Police Commissioner Dani Levi, and the head of the Israeli Security Agency (Shabak) David Zini held a joint multi-front assessment session today, Tuesday, as part of the security preparations for the upcoming period.
The Israeli army stated in a joint statement with the police and Shabak that the meeting comes in light of the preparations for what it described as a "sensitive period" expected in the coming weeks, coinciding with the preparations for the Israeli elections scheduled for October 27.
During the meeting, an updated intelligence picture regarding the situation on the borders and the internal front was presented to the heads of the security agencies, and efforts to enhance the security protection system across various fronts were discussed.
According to the statement, the meeting also addressed ways to confront armed Palestinian organizations, in addition to dealing with what the Israeli agencies describe as "national crime," referring to acts of violence with a national background inside Israel and the West Bank.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Zamir, Levi, and Zini agreed on a set of joint measures aimed at leveraging the capabilities of each agency and enhancing coordination among them, ensuring, according to the statement, that the upcoming elections are conducted in a "regular and secure" manner.
The meeting comes at a time when Israeli security agencies are preparing for a phase described as sensitive, amid Israeli fears of attempts to carry out attacks or influence the electoral process.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had warned earlier today of the possibility that Hamas might attempt to carry out attacks ahead of the elections in order to influence the internal Israeli scene, affirming that Israel will work to thwart any such attempts.
The content of the security statement indicates that the Israeli focus in the coming weeks is not limited to one front, but rather includes the borders, the home front, and confronting security threats, with a priority given to securing the elections and maintaining stability during this period.
