Jesus comments on Ronaldo's departure from the national team camp: He is the symbol of Portugal

- Jorge Jesus, coach of the Portugal national team, said that Cristiano Ronaldo is a “symbol” for the team and his country. Ronaldo left the national team camp last Wednesday, without revealing the reasons for that.

Then the 41-year-old simply said on his Instagram account: “After the press conference of the national team coach (Jorge Jesus) and after a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation (Pedro Proenca), I made the decision to leave the national team camp.” He continued: "At the appropriate time, I will tell the Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always been committed."

He continued: “Now it is time to wish success to Portugal and to all my teammates without exception.” Jesus was asked in a press conference on Saturday about Ronaldo's departure, and he replied, "The focus must be on the national team, in everything. As for Norway, what we have to do is ensure that our fans are in harmony with us and with the desired goal."

He added: "Cristiano Ronaldo is a symbol of the national team, of Portugal. After the match (against Norway), there will be plenty of time to talk about that." He added: "Football is decided day by day, match by match. Tomorrow's match is the most important. A match that is expected to be presented well. This is what I aspire to. The current focus is on the match against Norway."

The Portuguese national team, under the leadership of Jorge Jesus, will face Norway, at the Awal Stadium, on Sunday, in the fourth round of the European Nations League.
