The Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority denied, in a statement on Friday, the validity of what was said about opening transit operations at Kuwait International Airport, explaining that the decision to stop transit operations is still in effect until further notice. The authority’s official spokesman, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, explained that “the authority did not coordinate with Jazeera Airways, or other airlines, regarding resuming or opening transit operations,” noting that “administrative measures were taken against Al-Jazeera Airways for taking the action of opening transit flights and announcing them without obtaining prior approval from the authority,” according to what the official Kuwaiti “KUNA” news agency reported, quoting the authority’s statement.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi explained that “the decisions and instructions issued regarding stopping transit operations are still in effect since the beginning of the sinful attacks in the region,” stressing that “these decisions were taken within the framework of the Authority’s keenness to maintain the highest standards of security and safety of passengers, aircraft, and airports, in light of the current events, developments, and security conditions taking place in the region.” Al-Rajhi explained that “the administrative measures taken against Jazeera Airways were in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, for violating the decisions, instructions and controls approved regarding transit operations.”
Abdullah Al-Rajhi stated in the authority’s statement that “any change in the decision to stop transit operations or allow the resumption of these operations will be officially announced by the authority through the approved channels.”
