More than 60 ambassadors and diplomats visit the American Palestine Museum in Connecticut

More than 60 ambassadors and diplomats visit the American Palestine Museum in Connecticut

New York - Ofoq News - The Palestine Committee at the United Nations and the mission of the State of Palestine to the international organization organized a cultural visit to the American Palestine Museum in Connecticut, on Saturday, October 10, with the participation of more than 60 ambassadors, diplomats and members of the United Nations Secretariat, to learn about the Palestinian heritage and the creativity of Palestinian artists that document the history and suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, welcomed the broad participation of diplomats and United Nations employees in visiting this prominent cultural edifice, expressing his appreciation to the Palestine Committee at the United Nations for organizing the visit.

Mansour also praised the efforts of Faisal Saleh, founder and director of the American Palestine Museum, in building and developing the museum, praising his efforts in preparing and displaying the Palestinian embroidery pavilion related to the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, which was displayed in a museum in Venice, Italy, for several months.

The participants listened to a welcome speech delivered by the Malaysian Ambassador to the United Nations, Vice-Chairman of the Palestine Committee in the international organization, during which she stressed the importance of cultural events in introducing Palestine, its heritage and national identity.

The visit witnessed a musical segment presented by the Palestinian artist Nassim Al-Atrash, during which he played pieces from the Palestinian heritage on the cello, amid interaction and admiration from the audience.

The ambassadors and diplomats toured the various sections of the museum and viewed the artworks, paintings and creations that embody the suffering of the Palestinian people, in addition to exhibits that document the details of Palestinian life and its rich cultural heritage throughout history, from the past to the present.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the creative works presented by Palestinian artists that convey the Palestinian narrative, preserve national memory, and highlight aspects of Palestinian identity and heritage in the face of attempts to erase and disappear.
