Nassef Sawiris's first action against Jamie Carragher after his "insult" to Aston Villa

Nassef Sawiris, Chairman of Aston Villa, announced on Saturday that legal measures had been taken against former Liverpool player, Jamie Carragher. This decision was made against Carragher, who currently works as a sports critic, because of what Aston Villa described as his “unacceptable insults against the club and its fans.”

Egyptian billionaire Sawiris said: “Aston Villa will not allow anyone to stand in the way of our rise in English and European football,” according to what was reported by the club’s account on the “X” platform. Jamie Carragher was criticized for nominating Aston Villa coach Unai Emery to lead Manchester United, which has been suffering from poor results recently.

Later, Carragher responded to criticism from Aston Villa fans during his media appearance, saying: “Emery was truly amazing in what he did year after year. He must want to coach a giant team again.” He added: "Aston Villa will never be Manchester United. There is a hierarchy in football, whether you like it or not."

Jimmy Carragher continued, saying: “Real Madrid will take the best player from Manchester United, as they did with Cristiano Ronaldo,” indicating that the lower-ranked clubs accept the idea that the giant clubs will attract their players or coaches, calling on his critics to “silence.” It should be noted that Unai Emery took over as coach of Aston Villa in 2022, and led them to achieve the European League title and participate in the Champions League.
