Moscow - Ofoq News - Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed to his American counterpart, Donald Trump, on Saturday, Iran's position regarding a possible settlement of the conflict in the Middle East, with the support of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to the Interfax news agency, citing the Kremlin.
The Russian agency reported that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “In coordination with the Iranian president, Putin conveyed to Trump the point of view of the Iranian side regarding a possible solution to the conflict.”
During a phone call between the two presidents that lasted about an hour and a half, the contents of which were reported by the Russian TASS news agency, Putin offered Trump a solution to the “Iranian enriched uranium” crisis, which Washington is demanding Tehran get rid of.
Putin also informed Trump that "Moscow's offer to transfer Iranian enriched uranium to Russia is still on the table."
Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov told reporters: “Putin specifically stressed that diplomatic options regarding the Iranian file have not been exhausted in any way, as an agreement can and should be reached with Tehran through negotiations.”
Moscow has previously offered to transfer Iranian highly enriched uranium to it, which may stimulate diplomatic efforts to contain the conflict that has been raging in the Middle East for more than 7 months.
TASS reported that Putin and Trump held a “deep-content and very friendly” conversation that lasted an hour and a half.
Ushakov said: "Trump immediately warmly congratulated Putin on his birthday, and wished him success and good health. He also made sure to convey the greetings of his wife Melania," and "they expressed their satisfaction with the work of the existing channels of communication between the two countries through the presidential administrations, intelligence agencies, and other relevant agencies."
Regarding the Ukraine war, Putin informed Trump that Russia's position on the goals and objectives of its military operation has not changed, and that it also remains ready to reach a political and diplomatic settlement that achieves a lasting and sustainable peace.
Ushakov said that the possibility of resuming trilateral talks involving the United States and Ukraine was discussed during the previous conversation between the two presidents, with the possibility of resuming negotiations directly after the Russian Duma elections, but he noted that “the situation is different now.”
He explained: "Kiev's attempts to obstruct parliamentary elections in Russia have effectively undermined the possibility of resuming negotiations immediately, and now, as the president said, we will consider the date when these negotiations can be resumed."
Putin also spoke in detail about the Russian response to the Ukrainian attacks.
The Russian President's aide said: "Putin spoke in detail about the measures we are taking in response to the terrorist attacks launched by the Kiev regime, which chose to escalate and use all possible means to prolong the conflict."
Putin told Trump that Russian forces "fully control the initiative along the line of contact and are advancing confidently."
Both Trump and Putin plan to attend the APEC summit in China, and they may have the opportunity to meet there, according to TASS.
