Saudi Arabia confirmed that since the coup of the Houthi terrorist militia against the legitimate Yemeni government in 2014, it has made continuous and diligent efforts to support reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen. However, the militia, continuing its rejectionist approach to peace, chose instead to escalate military actions, "dragging Yemen and the Yemeni people into more humanitarian and economic suffering in service of and in execution of external agendas."

Saudi Arabia condemned and strongly denounced in a statement the continued targeting by the Houthi terrorist militia of civilians and civilian and economic sites in the Kingdom, as well as its blatant and repeated assaults on the holiest places on earth, Mecca and Medina, as well as the capital Riyadh and cities in the Kingdom, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu, in addition to targeting Saudi ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "The Kingdom reaffirms its inherent right to defend its territory, resources, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents, and to take all necessary measures to protect its security in accordance with international laws. It also renews its full political and military support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and the brotherly Yemeni people to end the coup and restore the state and its institutions from the Houthi terrorist militia."

It added: "The Kingdom renews its call for the international community to assume its responsibilities, particularly the permanent member states of the Security Council, to implement relevant Security Council resolutions, and to provide full support to the legitimate Yemeni government to confront the Houthi terrorist militia and stop its threat to Yemen, the region, and the world."
