Saudi Arabia announces the death of one person and the injury of 8 as a result of an attack on King Fahd Airport... and “senior scholars”: targeting holy sites and civilians is “terrorism”

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was attacked on Wednesday, killing “a resident and wounding 8 others, whose injuries ranged from minor to severe.” The authority explained, in a statement on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), that “the injured were immediately transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary health care,” noting that the attack “also caused material damage, which is being assessed, with developments to be announced later.”

During the recent period, the Houthi group launched attacks on Saudi airports and civilian facilities. The attacks were met with strong condemnations from many Arab, Islamic and Western countries and international organizations. In a related context, the spokesman for the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen” led by Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Maliki, announced on the “X” platform, “the interception and destruction of 4 drones in the eastern region.”

The General Secretariat of the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars confirmed that “targeting civilians and civilian facilities, destabilizing security, and its sinful attempt to target Mecca and Medina are considered terrorism and a dare to violate the sanctities of God.” The secretariat explained, in a statement, that “what this militia is doing is no less dangerous than the terrorism of extremist groups, but rather increases corruption on earth and aggression against Muslims,” praising “the vigilance of the air defense and the efficiency of the Saudi armed forces.”
