Saudi Arabia announces the killing of 12 and the injury of 309 in the attack on Riyadh Airport

Riyadh - Ofoq News - Saudi Arabia announced that 12 people were killed and 309 others were injured as a result of the attack that targeted, on Saturday, King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh.

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said on Sunday that “the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of 12 people.”

She added that the dead "among them 4 (Saudi) citizens and residents of the following nationalities: 2 of Bangladeshi nationality, one of American nationality, one of Egyptian nationality, one of Jordanian nationality, one of Syrian nationality, one of Palestinian nationality, and one of Sudanese nationality."

She added: "The attack also resulted in the injury of 309 others, and they are receiving the necessary health care in a number of hospitals, including critical injuries."

The attack also resulted in “material damage that is being assessed,” according to the same statement.

On Saturday evening, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Khalid International Airport had been attacked, resulting in injuries that are being investigated.

The authority explained, in a statement carried by the Saudi News Agency (SPA), that it was decided to temporarily suspend operational operations at the airport, until the damage assessment is completed and the safety of the facilities is verified, in coordination with the competent authorities.
