The "Coalition" announces a Houthi attack on a power distribution station in Medina

The official spokesman for the "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen" led by Saudi Arabia, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, announced on Thursday the occurrence of what he described as a "terrorist attack" launched by the Houthis on the Taibah electricity distribution station in Medina. Major General Turki Al-Maliki confirmed in a statement: “A terrorist attack occurred at 05:11 at dawn on Tuesday, corresponding to (September 29, 2026 AD), on the Taybah Electricity Distribution Station in the city of His Noble Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - (Medina),” according to what was reported by the Saudi “SPA” News Agency.

He added: "The results of the investigation and inferences from the competent authorities have proven the involvement of the terrorist Houthi militia in planning and implementing this cowardly terrorist act, through the operational review and the remains of the drone debris used." Major General Turki Al-Maliki explained, “The terrorist act caused one of the transformers to be out of service without affecting the electrical network. Also, this cowardly terrorist act of targeting a civilian object to provide electrical services to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina comes as an extension of the approach of this extremist militia in attempts to target the Two Holy Mosques, and continues to intentionally incite the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world by targeting Mecca and Medina,” according to SPA.

Major General Al-Maliki confirmed that the coalition will continue to take and implement measures to deter the terrorist Houthi militia. In order to ensure the protection of the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of the guests of God in Mecca and Medina. The Saudi-led coalition announced last month that air defenses “intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthi militia (backed by Iran in Yemen) that attempted to enter the airspace of Mecca.”

For its part, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement at the time that it condemned and denounced “the terrorist Houthi militia’s launching of an enemy drone towards the Holy City of Mecca.” The ministry added, "This cowardly terrorist attack against the Sacred Land, the land of the Message, the place of revelation, and the qibla of Muslims, is a repetition of the practices of the terrorist Houthi militia in targeting and violating the holy sites, and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims in various parts of the world."

The military spokesman for the Houthi rebels, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, denied that the Houthi group was targeting the city of Mecca.
