The Egyptian army announced the launch of the third phase to combat illegal gold mining in the Eastern Desert.
The Egyptian military spokesman reported that law enforcement elements from the army and police will continue to implement the third phase of the massive campaign to confront illegal exploration for gold ore in the Eastern Desert, following the dropping of warning leaflets to criminal elements to impose full sovereignty and protect the state’s capabilities and national wealth.
The military spokesman explained, in an official statement, that these movements come as a continuation of the field efforts made to control the border areas and pursue networks that practice random and illegal mining, stressing that the campaign aims to protect national wealth and prevent any harm to the security of the country’s borders.
In a related context, the military spokesman stressed the depth of the historical, political and popular ties that bring together the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples, noting that the peaceful coexistence and care enjoyed by millions of Sudanese residing on Egyptian territory are the best testimony to the strength of these extended relations.
He said that the General Command of the Army calls on the people of the Nile Valley to obtain information and news from their approved official sources, to ensure accuracy and not to be led by misleading rumors or foreign agendas that seek to destabilize and target the fraternal relations between Egypt and Sudan.
A few days ago, the Egyptian military spokesman announced the start of the second phase of a large-scale campaign to combat illegal gold mining in the Eastern Desert.
The spokesman indicated that the armed forces, in coordination with the police and all state agencies, intensified combing and raiding operations in the border areas to monitor these activities and protect the wealth of the Egyptian state, stressing the continuation of the efforts that began in the first phase.
