With the continuation of the conflict between America and Iran, and the continuation of the American naval blockade of Iranian ports, the Iranian riyal continued to decline, while the Central Bank announced the pumping of up to two billion dollars to support the currency.
Bonpast.com, which tracks the free market, explained that the selling price of the US dollar yesterday, Saturday, reached about 2.688 million riyals, up from 2.632 million on Friday.
While Al Anshand.com website reported that the price of the dollar reached 2.695 million riyals yesterday.
While government banks began selling up to two billion dollars to support the currency, which lost more than half its value over the past year.
On the other hand, Mehdi Darabi, Assistant Governor of the Central Bank for Foreign Exchange Affairs, held the rial’s decline partly responsible for what he said were misleading expectations from American officials that the Iranian economy would collapse. “The idea is being promoted that the Iranian economy is on the verge of collapse... and the enemy is using this to influence the exchange rate of our currency,” Darabi told Iranian television, adding that the current decline of the rial is temporary.
With the inflation rate exceeding 70 percent, life in Iran has become more difficult for ordinary citizens who cannot afford basic needs or rent, at a time when the American blockade is cutting off the country’s financial artery of oil exports.
While the US administration confirmed that it will continue to put pressure on Iran and prevent it from benefiting from exporting its oil, by continuing the naval blockade. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stressed that the siege remains tight and strict.
For his part, US President Donald Trump recently indicated that he will make important decisions regarding Iran, pointing out that the matter will proceed “the easy way or the hard way,” as he said.
Late last month (September), Tehran presented a new plan aimed at ending the war and opening the Strait of Hormuz within 7 days, in exchange for stopping the US naval blockade and lifting the ban on its frozen exports abroad. However, the Trump administration rejected it, adhering to its demand that the Iranian side make concessions on the nuclear issue.
