The Shin Bet warns of the escalation of Iranian influence in the West Bank and attempts to recruit militants

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - The Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet) warned of Iranian attempts to expand influence in the West Bank, taking advantage of the strikes that targeted the infrastructure of armed factions during the recent period, according to a report published by the Israeli newspaper “Kiba” on Thursday evening.

According to the report, which was based on an official document attributed to the Shin Bet, Iran seeks to exploit the decline that has affected some armed structures in the West Bank to strengthen its presence in the region and work to push the situation towards a new wave of attacks.

Recruiting militants, smuggling weapons, and transferring money

According to the newspaper, the security assessment stated that Iran and armed organizations are working to attract new elements and form armed groups, in addition to smuggling weapons and transferring money to finance attacks.

The report also referred to Israeli warnings of escalating incitement and attempts to encourage and expand armed confrontations, amid fears of carrying out attacks described as complex and dangerous.

According to what was reported by “Kiba”, the Shin Bet believes that the West Bank is still an arena for security and military confrontation, warning of the repercussions of attempts to expand armed activity and enhance financing and armament.
