Abu Dhabi - Ofoq News - The Attorney General of the Emirates, Counselor Dr. Hamad Al Shamsi, ordered today, Thursday, the opening of an investigation into the incident that occurred during a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, and its course was diverted and landed in Saudi Arabia after an argument in the cockpit.
The Emirates News Agency stated that the investigation will address the circumstances of the incident, its motives, and whether it is linked to “any terrorist activity or purpose or whether there was prior planning or direction for it.”
The agency quoted a statement by the Attorney General that the judicial authorities in the UAE are competent to investigate the incident because the plane is registered in the country and carries its flag, adding that the provisions of UAE law apply to crimes committed on board even “even if they occur outside the country’s territory.”
