Gaza - Ofoq News - The World Food Program (WFP) has warned that a severe funding shortfall is forcing it to make significant cuts in food aid across the Strip.
He said in a statement, "Although the ceasefire led to some fragile improvements in food security, the humanitarian situation remains very fragile."
He confirmed that he is reducing his planned monthly aid from 1.6 million to 1.1 million people, which means that about 500,000 people will not receive support monthly.
He explained that food rations have been reduced by half, as families receive much less aid.
He confirmed the reduction of cash assistance to 75,000 families.
He pointed out that the number of daily hot meals decreased from 250,000 to 150,000, as some families in hard-to-reach areas began to receive a hot meal only every two days.
He added: "About 1.4 million people, or 67% of Gaza's population, are facing crisis levels of food insecurity or worse, including nearly 200,000 people facing emergency conditions."
He stressed his urgent need for 450 million US dollars during the next six months to continue his vital operations in Gaza and the West Bank.
