The issue now is no longer the details of the Iranian party's trucks running rampant on the roads of Lebanon carrying death explosives. Rather, the issue is how to deal with the return of this "party" to practicing its terrorism, how the state will act in its constitutional positions, especially the presidency of the republic and the government, and how the judiciary and security services will act in the face of a very dangerous incident, which has been linked to an Iranian decision to commit major assassination crimes in the country. But what does not bode well is the presidential silence regarding what happened, and this clearly means... There is complete preparation to kill the investigation and remove the issue from circulation, by accepting the party’s (broken) narrative, which is that the explosives were going to be used to “resist the Israeli enemy.”
What is most dangerous in this context is that the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, and the Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, decided to cover this deviation from completing the investigation with comprehensiveness and boldness, leading to the report on the Iranian party’s continued participation in the Council of Ministers sessions, then how can it be possible to sit at the government table with a party that is still practicing terrorism and threatening its Secretary-General to abandon coexistence and ignite a civil war in the country.
The silence of the security services, and behind them the Lebanese state, in breaking and disabling their own cameras in the Bekaa, and not rushing to activate them again and prosecute the perpetrators, raises big questions about the “asleep” of these agencies in carrying out their duties in implementing the government’s decision to ban the military and security activity of the Iranian party on Lebanese territory. This means that what was discovered is only the tip of the iceberg in the party’s security and military movement, which has not stopped.
What makes the collusion more dangerous is that the destruction of surveillance cameras also occurred in Beirut’s neighborhoods, and despite the warnings issued by the residents, the security services did nothing to pursue a case of this seriousness, especially since the streets where the attacks took place are security-sensitive streets, and imposing security blindness there has only one meaning: that the party wants to move without any disturbance.
Normalization of the crimes of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Party does not only mean immediate security risks, but it means that what is to come is worse, and this “party” will consider that the state is continuing to cover up its crimes and show its weakness and impotence before it, while it is retreating inward after its terrible defeat in its open war with Israel in favor of the mullahs of Tehran, in the wars to support the fictitious Gaza and avenge Ali Khamenei, whom Iran itself has not avenged.
President Nawaf Salam, in particular, is facing a dangerous test. The passage of the crime of transporting explosives and spreading them on Lebanese territory, for clear terrorist purposes, will mean Iran’s intrusion into Lebanon and its success in a counterattack against the Lebanese state. Either the state’s channel will be strengthened, or it will fall very quickly into the grip of the “party.” He has not stopped his coup movements, nor has he shied away from seeking to overthrow a government that made historic decisions against him. Rather, he wants to erase their traces completely, and if the government and its president show any signs of weakness in this area, it will constitute the green light to attack the state again, so Iran will gain additional points on the moving chessboard in the region, and the most prominent strength shown by the government is the expulsion of the two Ministers of Explosives from its ranks.
The Lebanese cannot tolerate the weakness of the first and third presidencies, considering that the second presidency is part of the Iranian axis until proven otherwise. Either the state will stand and survive, or Lebanon will fall and fall with it into chaos and perhaps into mixed wars, internal and external, from which may God protect us.
