The Yemeni Ministry of Defense issued an urgent warning to citizens and drivers of civilian vehicles and means of transportation to avoid traffic on 19 main and subsidiary roads and axes in Taiz Governorate and neighboring governorates until further notice, attributing the decision to the use of these roads for military movements and supplies for the Houthi group.
The official spokesman for the armed forces explained, in a warning issued today, Friday, that this directive comes out of concern for the safety of civilians’ lives and property in order to avoid the dangers of military operations, calling for adherence to caution and not approaching the group’s movements, gatherings, or mechanisms.
The list of warned roads included vital lines linking Taiz to the neighboring governorates and the axes of the western coast, the most prominent of which are the roads (Sanaa-Dhamar-Ibb-Al-Qaeda-Al-Hawban), (Al-Dhakra Junction - Al-Sittin - Shara’b Al-Runa Junction - Shara’b Al-Salam Junction), (Al-Hawban-Al-Rahida-Haifan), and (Al-Kadha-Mawza-Al-Wazi’iyah-Al-Mukha), in addition to the linking lines through Al-Aqroud, Sami, Jabal Habashi, Al-Rubaie and Al-Barah.
The military leadership confirmed that these measures are precautionary and temporary measures to protect civilians, calling for following up on official instructions and communications regarding alternative and safe methods.
