- U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States has withdrawn its long-range bombers from Fairford Air Base in the United Kingdom due to "threats that were targeting them." Trump, speaking from the White House, said: "I think we can say...
I mean, they did not leave the base by accident. There were some threats, and instead of luring the enemy, we will capture and defeat him.
Trump did not specify the nature of the threat that led to the decision to move the bombers, and when asked if there was any risk of Iran sending combat drones to the United States, Trump avoided a direct answer: "I can't tell you that, but if they do, they will face severe consequences." The U.S. President mentioned that he has a "very good" relationship with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, although he is "very liberal."
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance hinted on Monday at a connection between Iran and existing security concerns. The bombers left the British airbase days after the British government arrested a group of individuals allegedly linked to an Iranian plot targeting that base.
