Trump on the third anniversary of "October 7": "One of the darkest and most evil days in Israel's history"

- On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump commemorated the third anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, pledging to "never forget the victims" and reviewing "his efforts to bring the hostages home." Trump stated in a post on his platform, Truth Social: "Three years ago today, on October 7, the world witnessed one of the darkest and most evil days in Israel's history, where innocent men, women, and children were killed, kidnapped, and subjected to unimaginable horrors by Hamas terrorists.

He added: "Today, we remember every innocent soul lost, honor the survivors and their families, and recall the hostages who suffered unimaginable pain. I fought tirelessly to bring the hostages home and reunite them with their loved ones, and I succeeded in that, whether for the living or the dead." On Wednesday, Trump told reporters before leaving the White House that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to express his support for the Israeli people.

Trump said: "I spoke with Bibi Netanyahu and wished him and the Israeli people all the best; it was a horrific day," and added: "And now, the other side is paying a very heavy price for what they did on October 7."
