Trump's deputy attacks Abdel Rahman Al-Sayed and describes him as "mentally defective"

- US Vice President J.D. Vance began his attack on the Democratic Senate candidate, Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed, even before arriving in Michigan to attend an election event, on Tuesday. Before departing on the vice president's plane, Air Force Two, Vance told reporters that Republican candidate Mike Rogers was a "wonderful guy," describing El-Sayed as "kind of a psychopath."

He added: "We will try to present our point of view in the best possible way, and provide some support to Mike." The Vice President did not go so far as to describe Al-Sayed as a “jihadi,” as President Donald Trump did, but he said that the Democratic candidate has “eccentric friends” and that he belongs to a trend within the Democratic Party that “seems to identify with people who justify violence against the United States of America.”

"Look, he definitely has a lot of weird friends, and he's made a lot of crazy statements," Vance said. Trump criticized Al-Sayed, a Muslim, during his election campaign, even in states where Al-Sayyed's name does not appear on ballots, and told reporters last week that he was a "violent, vicious jihadist" who "has no place in our government," without providing any evidence to support these accusations.

Vance also accused El-Sayed of engaging in "the kind of overt racial hatred against white people that has become common in the Democratic Party." Last week in Michigan, Trump praised candidate Rogers, likening him to “apple pie,” and continued to link El-Sayed to the Muslim Brotherhood; It is an allegation that the candidate categorically denied when asked about it during a campaign event earlier this month.
