Trump speaks again about a "third term"... and announces his approach against the Democrats: "I will become Mr. Veto"

- US President Donald Trump announced that he would like to run for president for a third term if the Constitution allowed it. He also indicated that he intends to use the “right of veto” against legislation presented by the Democrats if they regain control of Congress. “I would love to run again if I had the opportunity, but the wording of the Constitution is very precise and strict,” Trump told Miranda Devine of the New York Post in an interview recorded on Friday.

A recent poll showed me far ahead of everyone else. I would like to run, but that's okay; We still have more than two years to go, which is a long period during which a lot can be accomplished.”

Trump has hinted on previous occasions at the possibility of running for a third term, although he also referred to the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Constitution, which prohibits anyone from being elected “to the office of President more than twice.” Trump also touched on the possibility of Democrats regaining control of Congress after the midterm elections, and said: “I think we will achieve great results, but if we do not win, I will veto everything.

“I will continue to use the veto, and then maybe later we will reach some deals, but they will not be as good.” This came at a time when new opinion polls indicate that Democrats are close to seizing control of the Senate.

Asked whether he would be able to continue his presidential approach and work with the Democrats if they win, Trump replied: “Well, if that happens, I think I will be Mr. Veto.” He added: “At some point, we may reach deals.

This is what happened before; It is not the first time.” The American President continued his speech by saying: “They will send draft laws, and I will use my veto against them.

After a month or two of rejecting everything they offer, they will finally have to come to us and make a deal. "We hope we don't have to worry about this scenario."

Trump made similar statements to reporters in late October, indicating that although he believed that “the Republicans would win,” his plan was to use his veto power against legislation proposed by the Democrats, in order to force the other party to enter into negotiations with the Republicans.
