- US President Donald Trump warned that the riots and looting taking place in France portend what might happen to the United States if the Democrats win the midterm congressional elections in November. Trump said during an election rally in Kansas on Monday: “If you want to know what is at stake in this election, just look at what is happening in France; that country that was once great, but is now being invaded, plundered, and burned by immigrants, jihadists, and communists who hate Christianity, and even - frankly - Western civilization itself.”
In an effort to rally his Republican base, Trump addressed a large crowd in Kansas, vowing, “We will not let this happen in our country,” and noted that “globally-minded left-wing politicians in Europe bear responsibility for the influx of immigrants that has led to unrest in France.” He added: “As we see in Europe, these leftist politicians - in clear betrayal - have imported millions of immigrants from third world countries, individuals who are completely incompatible with the West or its values.
They despise everything related to France, and are working to destroy it.” He continued: “They handed over their country to subversive people who were never able to build such a country on their own.
These are people who are only good at talking, but unable to achieve, and refuse to integrate into society; All they want is to benefit from the social welfare system funded by hard-working French citizens," and he claimed that there are parties - which he did not specify - seeking to repeat the same scenario in America. Trump's speech included some interruptions by protesters, but the crowds drowned out their voices with cheers and encouragement. Following one of those interruptions at the beginning of the speech, Trump said: "How wonderful it is to be at a gathering of Trump supporters."
The media team accompanying Trump monitored the removal of at least 5 people from the rally site.
