Two men were killed on Sunday, one by an explosion of war remnants and another by an Israeli artillery shelling in southern Lebanon during the olive harvest, according to official media reports.

A retired soldier from the town of Yater was killed in the Bint Jbeil district, after the Israeli army targeted the outskirts of the town with artillery shelling, while he was inspecting his land and the olive season there, according to the National News Agency.

While a citizen working as an engineer was killed and another was injured as a result of the explosion of a suspicious object left over from the Israeli aggression in the Wadi al-Khamaz locality in the southern town of Faron.

The ambulance and civil defense teams worked to pull the dead man’s body from the area and transport the wounded person after fire also caught fire in the area as a result of the explosion, and the civil defense teams were working to extinguish it.

The Israeli army also continued various overflights over Lebanon and artillery shelling in other areas.

This afternoon, the area between the towns of Beit Yahoun and Bara'shit was subjected to intermittent artillery shelling by the Israeli army.

This coincided with a sweep operation using machine guns towards the town of Kunene.

Israeli artillery also bombed Wadi Zebqin and the outskirts of Baraashit.

At dawn, the outskirts of Mifidoun and Wadi Saluki, in the direction of Majdal Selm, were bombed.

Lebanon entered the war on March 2 after Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel, which it said were in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the first US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

Israel responded with an intense campaign of raids and a ground incursion by its forces, which occupied dozens of towns and villages in southern Lebanon, and widespread bombing operations.

The pace of violence declined after the United States and Iran concluded a memorandum of understanding in June, and the Lebanese and Israeli governments signed, under American sponsorship, a framework agreement that stipulated the disarmament of Hezbollah, the gradual withdrawal of the Hebrew state from the lands it occupies in southern Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army, starting from “experimental” areas.

Accordingly, the army deployed in July in the western town of Zawtar after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its outskirts, and its deployment was strengthened in the towns of Srifa and Faron. But no new areas were agreed upon.

Israel continues to launch attacks on southern Lebanon, and also carries out bombing and bombing operations in the towns it occupies.

Hezbollah refused direct negotiations with Israel and surrendered its weapons.
