Ukraine Launches Large-Scale Drone Attack on Moscow: One Dead and Damage to Homes and Vehicles

- Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Moscow overnight into Tuesday, resulting in one death and damage to homes and vehicles, according to Russian authorities. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that Ukraine fired 650 drones towards the Moscow region between 8:30 PM local time on Monday and 5 AM on Tuesday.

Sobyanin added via Telegram: "Most of them were destroyed by air defense systems at the outer perimeter. 105 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow."

A 20-year-old man was killed in an attack targeting the town of Radomlya in the Solnechnogorsk district, northwest of Moscow, according to Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region. Vorobyov added that six other people were injured across the region.

The attack caused damage to several private homes or destroyed them, according to the governor of the Moscow region, who added that authorities are still dealing with the aftermath of the attack in the affected areas. Ukraine has carried out several large-scale aerial attacks in recent weeks, including the largest drone attack on the Russian capital ever on September 21, involving more than 1,900 drones.

In contrast, Russia has intensified its airstrikes on Kyiv almost continuously since the end of August, resulting in dozens of deaths and disrupting the daily lives of residents in the Ukrainian capital. A Russian drone had struck a major bridge in Kyiv on Sunday, coinciding with the arrival of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the city.
