The Egyptian National Defense Council decided, on Sunday, to provide all necessary and possible forms of support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, and to preserve its capabilities, the integrity of its lands, and Islamic holy sites.
This came while Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired a meeting of the National Defense Council to discuss the overall current regional developments and the dangerous escalation the region is witnessing, especially in light of the unacceptable attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Egyptian Presidency said in a statement that the National Defense Council decided to “stand fully and stand in full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the historical relations and strong ties that bind the peoples of the two brotherly countries as the heart of the Arab nation, and out of belief in the connection between Saudi national security and Egyptian and Arab national security.”
The Council also decided to continue and intensify the political and diplomatic efforts made, in coordination with the relevant regional and international parties, in a way that contributes to reducing the escalation in the entire region and resolving the crises that the region is witnessing peacefully.
The decisions of the Egyptian National Defense Council to support and support Saudi Arabia came at a time when Parliament was preparing to hold an emergency plenary session on Sunday afternoon. To discuss developments in the regional situation and Egypt’s position towards protecting the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Yesterday, Saturday, the Egyptian President called on the House of Representatives to hold an emergency session to authorize him in any intervention requested by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, saying that Egypt will implement any measure to protect and defend Saudi Arabia, in accordance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
While Sisi stressed that Egypt does not seek war or attack any party, but rather moves within the framework of defense, stressing Cairo’s refusal to undermine Saudi Arabia’s security and stability, and indicating that any move in this direction requires the approval of the Egyptian Parliament.
