Salfit - Ofoq News - Today, Friday, settlers attacked farmers in various areas in Salfit Governorate, prevented them from continuing to harvest olives, and forced them to leave their lands, under the protection of the occupation army.
The farmers reported that settlers attacked them while they were picking olives in the Wadi Abbas area in the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan, smashing the windows of a number of their vehicles, and wounding a citizen as a result of the settlers throwing stones at the farmers, coinciding with attacks aimed at preventing them from reaching their lands and picking the olive crop.
In the town of Derastia, the occupation forces expelled farmers and activists, and prevented them from continuing to harvest olives in the western region of the town, at a time when the region is witnessing repeated attacks during the harvest season.
As for the village of Haris, settlers attacked farmers, forced them to leave their lands, and prevented them from continuing their agricultural work and harvesting olives.
In the village of Farkha, a farmer reported that a group of settlers attacked him by throwing stones, and prevented farmers from reaching their lands in the Giza area and its surrounding areas northwest of the village, while the theft of olive fruits continued for the third day in a row, according to testimonies from farmers from the area.
In the Yasuf area, settlers attacked farmers while they were on their lands in the Wadi Al-Ahmar area, prevented them from picking olives and assaulted them, under the protection of the occupation forces who were present in the place and prevented the farmers from continuing their work.
These attacks come as the olive harvest season continues in Salfit Governorate, amid farmers’ fears of losing their crops and not being able to reach their lands, especially in areas near settlements and settlement outposts established on citizens’ lands.
