The X platform announced the suspension of more than 13,000 accounts, which it said were linked to three operations suspected of aiming to influence political discussions within the United States, and were linked to Iran, Russia, and China.

The platform explained yesterday, Wednesday, that these accounts used false identities to publish or re-publish content related to American politics, and to target candidates and public figures from various political factions.

She also added that the monitoring and suspension of these accounts came within the framework of proactive reviews and internal investigations conducted by the company, without revealing the number of accounts associated with each of the three operations.

The famous platform confirmed that it is taking measures, in accordance with its policies aimed at protecting the integrity of civil processes, against misleading content regarding voting dates, places, or mechanisms, as well as attempts aimed at discouraging users from participating in the elections.

In a separate context, OpenAI announced last week the disabling of a network of ChatGPT accounts, which it said were linked to Iran and used fake journalistic identities to produce content and publish it in international media.

The company stated, in a report published on Thursday, October 8, that those responsible for the operation used artificial intelligence and artificial identities to publish or republish about 100 articles in the name of seven fictitious writers, through 12 electronic media outlets in different countries.

According to the report, the owners of these identities impersonated journalists from Western countries, including the United States, as part of an activity that relied on producing content using artificial intelligence tools and presenting it under false names.
