But other factions of the Yemeni army recently returned to the vicinity of Bab al-Mandab, narrowing the scope of the militia’s presence there, emphasizing the difficulty of its long-term stay in those areas, and in preparation for the recovery of kidnapped areas.

Fighting returns to the field, and both sides dispute narratives of victories and defeats. The potential for wider intervention in the conflict is increasing. Human suffering doubles. The displaced are distributed between inside and outside. These events lead to the question: Are they developments or deteriorations?
