On September 19, military sources reported that Yemeni forces fought battles with the Houthis on the Al-Mashjah front, west of Ma’rib, while raids targeted reinforcements and gatherings in the Umm Rish camps and the former 26th Brigade in Al-Juba District, in addition to Aqabat Mala’a in Harib, south of the governorate. Sources also spoke at the time about thwarting infiltration attempts in Wadi Dhanna and Balq.

Marib is one of the most prominent battlefields of confrontation between government forces and the Houthis, while the contact lines in the south of the governorate witness mutual military movements and operations.

During the past weeks, the map of control in Yemen has witnessed changes amid confrontations between government forces and the Houthis, after the militia advanced on the western coast and took control of the coastal city of Mokha and other strategic sites, including Mayon Island, located at the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab Strait. These areas gain special importance because of their location overlooking Bab al-Mandab, one of the most prominent sea lanes linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, which has raised concerns about the security of navigation and international trade movement.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni forces announced the regrouping of their ranks, confirming their intention to return to the western coast and regain the areas they lost during the recent confrontations.
