Amid the escalating tension between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, as a result of Trump's sudden decision to suspend sanctions on Russian diesel fuel, Zelensky considered that Russia did not consider Trump's statements strong enough to stop its strikes.
Zelensky said in a post on the X platform on Wednesday that the Russian strikes that targeted the energy sector overnight left 600,000 people without electricity.
He also added that Moscow deliberately ignored the "ceasefire" in the energy sector announced by US President Donald Trump. He continued, saying, "A Russian ballistic missile strike was directed specifically at the energy infrastructure, which is the same infrastructure covered by the ceasefire announced by the US President."
In addition, Zelensky stressed that "the strike was completely deliberate and expressive in scope, as Russia had never before shown such blatant disdain towards the United States."
Simultaneously, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces targeted the Kievskaya electrical substation, which provides power access to Ukrainian forces’ facilities from the western regions of Ukraine.
The US President announced in a post on social media last Sunday that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a “ceasefire agreement in the energy sector,” but neither party confirmed this.
Meanwhile, last Friday, Zelensky described Trump's decision to allow the import of Russian diesel fuel for the purpose of reducing prices as a "weak decision." Trump responded the next day, saying that Ukraine needed a “new president.”
However, the controversy did not stop here, as Zelensky returned to confirm that only Ukrainians choose their president!
