The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Board of Grievances, signed the document of accession to membership in the Arab Union for Administrative Judiciary, becoming the sixteenth country in the union, during a ceremony held today at the headquarters of the Egyptian State Council in Cairo.
The Saudi side was represented by the head of the Board of Grievances and Chairman of the Administrative Judicial Council, Dr. Ali Al-Ahideb, while the Egyptian side was represented by the President of the Arab Union for Administrative Judiciary, President of the Egyptian Council of State, Counselor Mahmoud Abu Al-Dahab, in the presence of a delegation of Saudi and Egyptian judges and leaders, and the Deputy Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Egypt, Khaled bin Hammad Al-Shammari.
Al-Uhaidib stressed that the Kingdom’s accession represents an extension of the regional and international presence of the Saudi administrative judiciary, in light of the judicial, institutional and digital development it is witnessing, noting that the step opens broader horizons for transferring the experience of the Board of Grievances to the Arab world, and exchanging experiences, knowledge and judicial sciences between the competent authorities.
He explained that joining reflects the Bureau’s direction towards expanding its judicial partnerships, and highlighting the Saudi experience in institutional development, digital transformation, employing artificial intelligence, and facilitating procedures, in a way that supports judicial integration and enhances the exchange of practices that contribute to the development of judicial work.
He added that the new membership enhances the presence of the Saudi administrative judiciary in Arab and international forums, and supports its contribution to cognitive and judicial development, in line with the aspirations of the Board of Grievances system towards leadership and maximizing impact.
The head of the Board of Grievances thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in appreciation of the support and care that the Board receives, stressing that this support contributed to achieving its achievements, developing its system, and enhancing the position of the Saudi administrative judiciary regionally and internationally.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Abu Al-Dahab accompanied the head of the Board of Grievances on a tour of the historic headquarters of the Egyptian State Council in Princess Fawqia Palace. The two sides also exchanged commemorative shields on this occasion.
Before the Kingdom’s accession, the Arab Union for Administrative Judiciary included 15 Arab judicial bodies specialized in administrative justice, while the new membership allows for expanding areas of partnership and building sustainable channels of cooperation between member bodies.
