Al-Alimi: Egypt and the Kingdom’s standing by Yemen is a pillar of the security and stability of the region

Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, stressed that Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s support for the Yemeni people in their struggle to restore state institutions represents an essential pillar of regional security and stability.

Al-Alimi, in a post on the “X” platform, praised Egypt’s position, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and its firm solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting common threats and protecting people’s interests and national security.

Al-Alimi's praise comes in the wake of intense Egyptian movements, as the Egyptian National Defense Council decided, today, Sunday, to provide all necessary and possible forms of support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, and to preserve its capabilities, the integrity of its lands, and Islamic holy sites.

The Egyptian Presidency said in a statement that the National Defense Council decided to “stand fully and stand in full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the historical relations and strong ties that bind the peoples of the two brotherly countries as they are the heart of the Arab nation, and out of belief in the connection between Saudi national security and Egyptian and Arab national security.”

Yesterday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, during his meeting with his Yemeni counterpart, Afrah Al-Zouba, on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meetings in Baghdad, also affirmed Cairo’s firm position in support of Yemen’s unity and sovereignty, and its support for efforts aimed at restoring security and stability, and supporting political and diplomatic settlement paths in a way that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people and preserves the state’s capabilities.

The two sides discussed developments in the situation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and stressed the importance of protecting the security of navigation and freedom of passage in international sea lanes, and intensifying efforts aimed at containing tensions and preventing the expansion of the conflict in the region.

Abdel-Aty reiterated Egypt's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of attacks and threats affecting its security and stability, stressing that the Kingdom's security is an integral part of Egyptian national security.
