The Egyptian security services in the Qena Security Directorate arrested 5 people, including a bride and another woman, against the background of the circulation of a video clip on social media sites, during which a number of people appeared dancing and carrying firearms during a wedding ceremony in the Asment village of Naqada Center, west of Qena Governorate.
According to what was published by press sources, quoting the security services, the incident began after a video clip of a wedding ceremony was circulated, during which the bride appeared at the top of the kosha dancing carrying an automatic weapon, while a number of participants in the ceremony appeared carrying automatic weapons and dancing with them.
According to Egyptian media, examination revealed that the video is old and dates back about a year and a half, and is not a recent video, as its current circulation on social media might suggest.
The security services were able to identify and arrest 5 people in connection with the incident, including 3 men and 2 women, including the bride and her relative. The weapon used in the incident was also seized.
A report was drawn up on the incident, and the competent investigation authorities were notified to initiate legal procedures, while the Naqada Police Station Investigation Unit was tasked with conducting the necessary investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
Social media users circulated the video again during the past hours, bringing the incident back into the spotlight, even though the clip itself dates back to an earlier period.
