Amid the significant progress made by the Yemeni forces in the southern coast, sources from Taiz in the southwest of the country revealed that more than 50 vehicles carrying dozens of Houthis withdrew from Al-Bariha and Bani Bakari towards Al-Kadhah.
The sources added today, Monday, that dozens of Houthi elements fled from mountainous heights in the Jabal Habashi district.
This came after the armed forces took control of Bab al-Mandab, Dhubab, and cut the road between Dhubab and Al-Mokha, tightening their fire control over it.
Meanwhile, a 'strategic attack' was carried out on Houthi positions in the capital, Sana'a.
Taiz is considered the largest and most important city in Yemen in terms of population, historical significance, and economic importance. It is located in the southwest of the country on mountainous heights and enjoys a distinguished geographical and strategic location.
It overlooks the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the coastal strip that includes the port of Mokha.
The internationally recognized Yemeni government announced yesterday, Sunday, the start of an offensive to regain territory, and the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, pledged to continue fighting "until the country is liberated from the grip of the terrorist Houthi militia."
It is noteworthy that fierce battles have taken place in recent times on several fronts in Yemen between the armed forces and the Houthis, but the most intense clashes have concentrated in the southwest, both in the coastal area near the Bab al-Mandab Strait and in the hills surrounding the city of Taiz, where the Houthis have failed in their attempts to encircle government forces.
