Gaza - Ofoq News - A number of displaced and poor people protested in the Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip, in front of the World Food Programme’s food preparation point, east of the railway campus, in rejection of the program’s decision to reduce the meals provided to displaced families.
The protesters lifted food containers and banged on them to express their anger and protest, after the World Food Program announced that the daily meal the family receives would be reduced to one meal every two days.
The protesters stressed that the decision exacerbates their suffering, in light of the displacement, destruction of their homes, lack of sources of livelihood, the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and the continuation of the war, demanding that the World Food Program retract the decision and re-provide meals on a daily basis and increase and improve them.
One of the protesters said that his family does not have any source of income and depends entirely on food aid, wondering: How can a displaced family that does not have enough food to face this situation with one meal every two days?
While one of the protesters expressed her anger and sadness, stressing that reducing food means increasing the suffering of children and poor families, demanding that humanitarian institutions assume their responsibilities and not leave the displaced and poor to face hunger alone.
