- Lionel Messi scored two goals, through which he led his team, Inter Miami, to victory over Atlanta United, 3-1, at the latter’s stadium, on Sunday, in an American League match. The goals of the 39-year-old Argentine star came in the 56th and 60th minutes.
Messi scored his second goal through a counterattack, as he dribbled past Uruguayan defender Junior Alonso, entering the penalty area and going one-on-one with the goalkeeper, before putting the ball into the net. After scoring for the second time, Lionel Messi celebrated near his opponent, Alonso, and made a gesture with his hand that mimicked “spin,” as he appeared to be mocking the Uruguayan defender after he made him spin around himself while dribbling.
Junior Alonso had angered Messi during a previous match between the two teams, as he celebrated in front of him after preventing him from scoring a goal. Lionel Messi has 25 goals and 13 assists in 27 MLS matches this season.
