The Yemeni government forces announced the completion of their control over the Bab al-Mandab Strait and Mayon Island, in conjunction with confrontations waged by the Southern Giants forces against members of the Houthi group in the Dhubab area, which ended with the capture of a number of militia members, according to what military sources confirmed.
This comes in the context of military operations carried out by government forces on the western coast of Yemen, with the aim of restoring strategic sites overlooking the strait, which represents one of the most important sea lanes for international trade.
On Friday, the Southern Giants Forces also published photos and videos documenting the capture of members of the Houthi group in the Dhubab area, following confrontations with Houthi militants who had barricaded themselves in sites in the region.
Military sources confirmed that Giants forces attacked a barracks for Houthi elements in Dhubab, after imposing a siege on it and issuing a three-day warning.
Meanwhile, the forces engaged in violent confrontations with the remaining Houthi elements in the vicinity of Bab al-Mandab.

On the other hand, Yemeni sources reported that the Houthis sent military reinforcements by sea, yesterday evening, Thursday, to their members besieged in Dhubab, in an attempt to support their positions in the region.
The sources also spoke about the group's intensification of launching missiles and drones towards Bab al-Mandab last night, coinciding with the continuation of military operations in the vicinity of the strait, while the Al Arabiya envoy reported that the Houthi militias intensified their launching of missiles and drones yesterday, Thursday, at Bab al-Mandab.
Simultaneously, air strikes continued as part of Operation “Yemen Dawn” on sites belonging to the Houthi group, since dawn, targeting areas in the Saada and Sana’a governorates, amid reports of explosions in Amran, a day after a series of raids described as the most violent, targeting military sites and gatherings in several governorates.
Military sources reported to Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath that military aircraft launched raids on areas in the Kattaf and Al-Baqa District in Saada Governorate, the main stronghold of the Houthi group in northern Yemen.
It also reported other raids targeting sites in Sanaa, while explosions were heard in Amran Governorate, believed to be caused by air strikes targeting sites belonging to the Houthis. The toll of losses resulting from the new raids was not immediately clear.
Bab al-Mandab represents a major crossing point for global trade, as it connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, while Mayun Island is located at the entrance to the strait, which gives it military and geographical importance in securing maritime navigation.
The latest developments place control over the sites surrounding Bab al-Mandab, along with the fate of the besieged Houthi elements, at the forefront of the military scene on the west coast, amid continuing confrontations and exchanges of attacks in the vicinity of one of the most sensitive sea lanes in the region.
