The Yemeni Council of Ministers said that the Houthi terrorist militia's attack, on Thursday, on the Ma'ashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden, with missiles and drones clearly reveals the militia's inability to confront the will of the Yemenis to restore state authority over the entire national territory and end its Iranian-backed sabotage project, and its resort to such destructive acts of civilian facilities.
A statement issued by the Council confirmed the killing and wounding of guards working at the presidential palace, without mentioning a specific number, stressing that the continuation of this terrorist militia’s path of violence will only bring more isolation and popular rejection of its coup project.
The Yemeni Council of Ministers also affirmed that this terrorist attack will not undermine the will of the state and the government, and will not deter it from continuing to perform its national and constitutional responsibilities, or from continuing the battle to restore its institutions and end the coup... indicating that this targeting cannot be separated from the continuing terrorist escalation of the Houthi militia, nor from the battle to end the coup that Operation “Yemen Dawn” is pursuing, which aims to extend state authority over the entire national territory, all the way to the capital, Sana’a.
He pointed out that the militia's continued targeting of cities and civilian facilities is a desperate attempt to impose its project by force and will not succeed in obstructing the aspirations of the Yemeni people to restore their state and institutions.
The statement indicated that this targeting comes in the context of an escalating pattern of Houthi terrorism, which was not limited to targeting state institutions, but rather extended to attacks on civilian objects and vital installations in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the bombing of residential neighborhoods in the governorates of Taiz and Lahj, which puts the lives of civilians at risk and doubles their suffering, and confirms that this militia represents a direct threat to the security of Yemen and its neighbourhood, and to regional stability and vital interests in the region.
He called on the international community and the United Nations to take a clear and firm stance on these attacks, not to treat them as separate incidents out of context, and to exert the necessary pressure to stop targeting civilians and civilian facilities, and to hold those responsible for these violations accountable, ensuring that they do not escape accountability.
The statement affirmed that the government will continue to perform its duties and support the armed forces, military formations, security services and popular resistance in the battle to restore state authority, strengthen the presence of its institutions and services, and protect citizens, in parallel with continuing the necessary political, economic and humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. Stressing that the government will not back down in the face of terrorism, Aden will not be a hostage to threats, and restoring the republic will remain an irreversible national goal.
He added, "Yemen's future will not be dependent on a militia that takes up arms against its people, targets the security of its neighbors, and bets on violence to compensate for the Yemenis' rejection of its coup project."
